2001 Final Legislative Reapportionment Plan

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Constitution of Pennsylvania, following is a copy of the Final Reapportionment Plan of the State Senate and House of Representatives filed by the 2001 Legislative Reapportionment Commission with the Secretary of the Commonwealth.

The 8th Senatorial District in Delaware and Philadelphia Counties has the largest population, 249,252, which is 1.48% above the average population for a Senatorial district. The 39th Senatorial District in Westmoreland County has the lowest population, 239,482, which is 2.50% below the average population for a Senatorial district. The 58th Legislative District of the House of Representatives in Fayette and Westmoreland Counties has the largest population, 62,099, which is 2.65% above the average population for a Representative district. The 114th Legislative District of the House of Representatives in Lackawanna, Luzerne, Susquehanna and Wyoming Counties has the lowest population, 58,751, which is 2.89% below the average population for a Representative district.

The Constitution of Pennsylvania, Article II, Section 17(d) provides that any aggrieved person may file an appeal from the Final Plan directly with the Supreme Court within thirty days after the filing thereof (i.e.November 19, 2001). Technical adjustments to the Final Reapportionment Plan were made on November 28, 2001. The adjustments were made to House Districts 22, 27, 154 and 170 and are reflected in the 2001 Final House Reapportionment Plan which appears on our web site.
